Dr TAN Chuan Hao Grant
Research Fellow

Dr Tan has a background in molecular biology, microbiology and environmental engineering.  His research focuses on understanding the social behaviour of complex microbial consortia from the perspective of cell-cell signalling. Specifically, the research is dedicated to understanding the roles of cell-cell signalling in the complex biofilm assembly, e.g. microbial granules, and wastewater nutrient removal. He is also interested in modelling of community signalling events as well as in understanding the evolution of cell-cell signalling in complex microbial communities. The ultimate goal of the research is to appreciate how microbial cells interact with each other and behave in complex communities, and eventually to manipulate such community behaviour for biotechnological and medical applications.
